Macao
How to play
In short: A game full of twists with a simple goal: get rid of all your cards! Action cards make others draw, skip a turn or change the suit. Whoever runs out of cards first wins.
Rules
Players: 2–8 (with 6 or more players it's worth using 2 decks).
Cards: 32-card Hungarian deck
+ (optional) the Chroniclers
Dealing: 5 starting cards for everyone, a draw pile, and one card turned face up to start the discard pile.
Gameplay: you may play a card that matches the suit or the rank of the top card of the discard pile. If you have no card to play, you must draw one.
Special cards:
- VII: the next player must draw 2 cards (can be stacked).
- VIII: the next player skips this round.
- Ace: the direction of play reverses (if you were going clockwise, you now go anticlockwise).
- Under/Over/King: you choose which suit the next player has to play.
- Coloured Chronicler: can be played in place of any card; the player decides what it stands for, and that card's effect also applies.
- Pale Chronicler: can be played on a card of any suit but has no effect. It counts as the suit it was played on, and only a card of that suit can be played on it.
When you have only one card left: you must call "Macao!". If you forget, you have to draw a card.
